{"id":1328,"date":"2025-10-07T12:17:32","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T04:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curve-series.com\/?p=1328"},"modified":"2026-01-27T16:12:59","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T08:12:59","slug":"european-unions-19th-sanction-package-on-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/curve-series.com\/?p=1328","title":{"rendered":"European Union\u2019s 19th Sanction Package on Russia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Russian Shahed drones violating Polish and Romanian airspaces, EU\u2019s Kyiv office attacked and damaged by Russian attacks and the continual evasion of sanctions by loopholes. These actions escalated the tension between the EU and Russia and with that, the 19<sup>th<\/sup> Sanction Package on Russia is presented. The package will begin implementing its enforcement from 1 January, 2027.<\/p>\n<h2>EU\u2019s pressure on Russian Crude and Refined Products<o:p><\/o:p><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Energy, the main driving revenue of the Russian\u2019s war efforts. Starting from the $47.60\/BBL price cap on crude, further measures were added to further pressure the Russia\u2019s revenue from the export of crude and other refined products. Third-Country traders after the implementation of 19<sup>th<\/sup> Sanction package will face asset freezes and transaction bans if found to be aiding Russia\u2019s efforts to evade sanctions or purchasing above price cap.<\/p>\n<p>India and China remain Russia\u2019s top importer of crude since the implementation of the 18<sup>th<\/sup> Sanction Package. At a total of about 15,884 Ktons of crude in the month of July 2025, it does not seem that the 2 countries would slow down the import of crude oil from Russia.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1.png\" alt=\"Indian and Chinese Crude Import from Russia\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1.png 790w, https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1-300x167.png 300w, https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1-768x428.png 768w, https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1-600x334.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Figure 1. With these measures, it places stricter enforcement on the Russia\u2019s efforts to evade the sanctions to drive her war efforts.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Full transaction ban on Russia\u2019s LNG export<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/h2>\n<p>Comparing the <a href=\"https:\/\/curve-series.com\/the-eus-18th-package-of-sanctions-against-russia\/\">18<sup>th<\/sup><\/a> and 19<sup>th<\/sup> sanction packages\u2019 stance on LNG exports by Russia: a full transaction ban will be implemented instead of only a ban on LNG terminal services.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2.png\" alt=\"LNG Dutch Title Transfer Facility Swap Jan Year 2\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2.png 790w, https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2-300x172.png 300w, https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2-768x441.png 768w, https:\/\/curve-series.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2-600x345.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Figure 2. Source: Curveseries<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Upon the announcement of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> Sanction Package, prices for Dutch TTF did not show any erratic movement.<\/p>\n<h3>Impacts<o:p><\/o:p><\/h3>\n<p>EU\u2019s 19<sup>th<\/sup> Sanction Package seeks to put additional pressure on Russia in order to stop the war in Ukraine. Given the proposed date of 1<sup>st<\/sup> January 2027, supply chains could have sufficient time to adjust and adapt, reducing the impact on the trade flows.
